Jon Rahm Takes the Win

Silverleaf Ambassador Jon Rahm put together a flawless final round of 65 on Sunday to win the Hero World Challenge by four shots and claim his third win of 2018.

Rounds of 71, 63, 69 and a bogey free 65 gave Jon a -20 total of 268, four ahead of second place Tony Finau and a further shot ahead of Justin Rose.

Rahm, who is now ranked 6th in the Official World Golf Rankings, was invited to play in the elite 18 man field by Tiger Woods despite beating him 2 and 1 in the Sunday Singles at The Ryder Cup.

Jon admitted that he struggles to putt on Bermuda grass greens and that heíd asked Tiger for advice during practice at The Tour Championship. Although Woods told him it was all about feel he still didnít quite feel comfortable on this grass variety. That said, he took the Hogan approach of, ĎIf you donít feel good with the putter, hit the ball closer to the hole with your irons!í

The ball striking clinic that Rahm put on over the four days was very impressive and although he didnít hole much outside 10 feet he posted some very impressive numbers and brought home the victory.

Born in Barrika, Spain, Jon moved to Arizona to attend ASU. During his Sun Devil career he was the first two-time winner of the Ben Hogan Award in 2015 and 2016, an award that recognizes the outstanding male amateur and collegiate golfer of the year. He also won the Jack Nicklaus award in 2016 and is a four-time NCAA All-American.

Since becoming an Ambassador Jonís numbers at Silverleaf have been pretty good too. He posted a 62 a few weeks ago from the Silver tees, made a hole in one during Blacks & Blues and captained his team to victory in the Turkey Shoot!

Please join me in congratulating Jon on both a great week and a spectacular year!

Congratulations Jon, itís great to have you on the Silverleaf team.
